LET’S TALK ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA!!

I don’t know about you, but personally, Instagram and Twitter come to my mind immediately I hear the word “social media.”

Now, before we proceed, can we all pull off our serious shoes, please? We are here to laugh, have fun and not be all serious! Thank you.

  1. We are all celebrities on social media.
  2. We all definitely want to look fly and peng on social media.
  3. Nobody is suffering on social media, since a whole lot of people post up photos wearing Balenciaga, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and the rest.
  4. Everybody has an enemy on social media.
  5. Everybody looks up to someone or a group of people on social media.
  6. Everybody is happy on social media.
  7. Everybody is “PERFECT” on social media.

Alright I’m going to pull the brakes on the list now.

It’s all lies baby, nobody is perfect and definitely, not everyone on the social media is happy!!

Personally, I used to be “Oh, I’m so obsessed with Instagram. Why? I love aesthetic. I love arranging my feed and all that”. But eventually, I grew the f*ck up.

Social media is extremely addictive especially within this generation (set awon gen Z). We have this high addiction to gadgets and Lorrrddd, it is just too much. I’m guilty too! I can’t do a day without my phone and that’s it.

Yesterday, I was talking to a friend about how I shifted from Instagram to Twitter, telling her the app sucks all my subscription. You wanna know what she said? Chill, I’ll tell you.

“Insta makes me sad inside.”

Yup!

My sweet friend told me Instragram stresses her out and I couldn’t help but agree with her. I mean honestly, the app stresses me out too.

Couple goals everywhere, travel goals, f*cking feed goals, I mean..

Should we talk about the hot Instagram boys too? Nah, that’s a talk for another day entirely.

Social media is both bitter and sweet.

One minute, you feel good about the peng picture you just posted. And if you are like me, you are on the shaderoom and E news sipping some nice hot tea about these celebrities.

The bitter part of social media is the toxicity.

We can all agree that social media is toxic af!

Posting a whole harmless tweet can lead to tears in 0.00000seconds.

Personally, I think social media is exhausting. However, there is a but..

It is likely I’ll die of boredom without social media.

As much as I try to joke around with these things, it is actually not a joke that social media is toxic.

I left Facebook because I felt like there was just too much eyes on me.

Yes, I do not have Facebook.

Or maybe, my account is still somewhere on it but I wouldn’t know that since I no longer have the app on my phone.

And I have to add this:

My roommate is obsessed with Tomike.

Social media keeps influencing lives. Now, I would love to say in most cases, positively, but we all know that’s not true.

“This babe just uploaded a photo wearing fashionnova, I must wear it too.”

“I can’t believe he bought a whole Bentley, I have to step up my game.”

Comparison is the thief of joy.

If you compare yourself to A today, compare yourself to B tomorrow, you’ll just keep running and running till you f*cking kill yourself.

And all we can tell your soul is RIP.

Or maybe gone too soon?

A simple prayer: It shall not be our portion.

I created a blog to express myself more and put my thoughts out there.

Now before I go, I just want to talk about this guy I love talking to on the gram. It breaks my heart 100% that I always have zero idea of what to say to him, whereas I badly wanna talk to him, alright.

After hours of thinking of what to say, I just end up asking jamb questions like:

“How is work?”

Okay, that’s a gist for another day.

Point is, I noticed two things about this guy. Fine, maybe three.

  1. He respects women.
  2. He’s not much of a talker.
  3. He is a very careful person.

Yes, I noticed that this person is a very careful person. He hardly post up stuffs on the gram and when he does, poof he’s gone again.

Well, what can I say?

We can never be too careful on social media.

We don’t know whose intention is good and whose is bad.

Dear Crush, my intentions are good though.

Above all, in all we do, let’s be careful and let us waka jeje.

My loves, I think that will be all for today on Talk with Tayo.

And thank you all for the warm welcome! Read your comments and really, you guys are amazing.

Don’t sleep, I’ll be right back.

And I don’t mean don’t sleep as in literally (lmao).

Drop your comments below and I’ll make sure to read ’em all.

What are you waiting for, talk with me!

        1. Honestly if we all had the answer to that I don’t think it will still be a question
Some people will be like “take a social media break if it’s too much”
Some people will say “Get off social media”
Personally, I feel everyone should just do what works for them as long as its not negative and hurting others you know
I have accounts for my businesses on social media so getting off social media is a NO for me
And as for my personal account I have people I love talking to
So there’s no way we won’t be pressured by the media
The best thing is to just be yourself and if it’s overwhelming “take a break”

  2. Social media ti fuck many people up mehn😂☹. Social media is just littered with filtered pictures and numbers. It’s so painful how people cannot live their lives outside social media. A lot of people are winning on social media while failing in real life. And this is one of the reasons why I wrote “Why buy followers?” . We compare ourselves to others, we lower our self-esteem. We want to belong and all the bling bling. I still prefer Twitter to Instagram, because life is real on Twitter🤣🤣, Instagram is just too perfect. If I keep talking I’ll not finish…

Thing is, we’re doing fine. We’re doing just great! This is a nice read and I’m going to stick around❤

  3. I don’t know about y’all but me I can do without social media. The only reason I’m on it, is to gain recognition for what I do. And I love what I do, I mean it’s the best thing and that’s something I can’t go a day without ”Music”. Each day I meet new people and they tell how good I am in my field, don’t want to brag but shit I am tho. But I myself am caught in the web of all these flaunting on social media and they make me feel less. I don’t know why feel that way, cause they themselves started at one place to. So I’ve made myself a promise, never to feel the way I feel when it comes to people showing off and just be happy and satisfied with what I have. So thank you and great piece, hope to see more soon.

  4. I love this!! Totally agree with you about social media. It can be amazing- you can connect with so many people and opportunities, but it also adds to the unrealistic beauty standards that already exist. Sometimes it’s can be so tiring just trying to keep up or be reminded. All you have to keep telling yourself is that you are doing great just where you are in life and just by being yourself 😪🙌🏽
